Mrs. Carolyn Mangum Phifer, age 77, of Monroe, North Carolina, passed away Tuesday, September, 5, 2017, at The Jesse Helms Nursing Center in Monroe, North Carolina.
A Memorial Service to celebrate her life will be conducted at 3:00 PM Monday, September 18, 2017, at the Davis Funeral Chapel.
Mrs. Phifer was born on October 8, 1939, in Chesterfield County, South Carolina, a daughter of the late Jessie Vachel (JV) Mangum and Dezzie Threatt Mangum.
She was a cosmetologist and beautician for over 50 years in Monroe. She enjoyed volunteering and being able to help assist others. She volunteered for the Shriners cooking, the V.F.W. helping with food for veterans at Salisbury, and working with the Carolinas Singles for 25 years.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Jimmy Mangum and Benny Mangum; and a sister, Vivian Manshack.
Survivors include two sons, Ricky D. Phifer and wife, Pepsie, of Monroe, Victor Kim Phifer and wife, Janet, of Marshville; two daughters, Cindy P. Pittman and husband, Greg, of Thomasville, NC and Teresa P. Judy of Monroe; eleven grandchildren, William Niven, Jr., Jessica Phifer, Aaron Garrison, Tyler Phifer, Rick L. Phifer, Alexis Judy, Camron Phifer, Jordan Judy, Michael Albright, Tiffanie Phifer and Stephanie Benton; ten great grandchildren; two sisters, Nancy M. Adams of Lancaster, SC, and Phyllis Phifer of Monroe.
The family will receive friends Monday, September 18, 2017, following the memorial service at Davis Funeral Home at 1003 East Franklin Street in Monroe.
