Mrs. Carolyn Holland Rawls, age 82, of Monroe, North Carolina, passed away on Monday, February 26, 2018, at Woodridge Assisted Living in Monroe, North Carolina.
Funeral Services to honor Carolyn’s life will be conducted at 1:00 PM Friday, March 2, 2018, at First Presbyterian Church, 302 E. Windsor Street, Monroe, NC 28112, officiated by Rev Jason Haas and Rev Roy Barbee. The family will receive friends following the service.
Mrs. Rawls was born on December 2, 1935 in Union County, NC, daughter of the late Willie Mae Matheson. Carolyn began her business career working at Scarborough’s Toy Shop and The Lullaby Shop prior to being the owner and founder of Carolyn’s Casuals. Later in her career, Carolyn enjoyed working at Belk prior to her 13 years working for the City of Monroe at the Aquatic Center where she was recognized with the outstanding employee award for impeccable customer service. Carolyn loved taking care of the group bus tours.
She also was a member of the Jaycette’s club and was the 1969 Jaycette of the Year for her dedication to the community.
Survivors include her loving husband of 64 years, Charles Rawls of Monroe, NC; a son, Tony D. Rawls of North Myrtle Beach, SC, a daughter, Dana R Pastores and husband Glen of Monroe, NC. Carolyn is also survived four grandchildren; Malia K Rosvold of Minnesota, Crystal N Witmore of Charlotte, NC, Kayla R Witmore of Charlotte, NC, and Tony A. Rawls of North Myrtle Beach, SC. There are 3 great grandchildren. She is also loved and greatly missed by Finley, her West Highland Terrier.
