Mrs. Frances Pope Parker, age 87, of Monroe, North Carolina, passed away Tuesday, May 2, 2017, at her residence.

A funeral service to celebrate her life will be conducted at 12:00 PM Saturday, May 6, 2017, at Davis Funeral Chapel, 1003 East Franklin Street, Monroe, NC, 28112, officiated by Reverend Charles Miller. Burial will follow at Lakeland Memorial Park Cemetery, 1901 Lancaster Avenue, Monroe, NC, 28112.

Mrs. Parker was born on October 23, 1929, in Union County, North Carolina, a daughter of the late Archie Thomas Pope and the late Dora Griffin Pope.  She retired from Tamarand Sportswear with 38 years of dedicated service and after retirement she became a homemaker and assisted on the family farm.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her late husband George C. (Jinks) Parker, her sister Rachel Starnes and her brother Reverend Archie Curtis Pope.

Survivors include her children, David Parker and wife Gloria of Monroe NC, Steve Parker and wife Elaine of Monroe, NC, Debbie Evans and husband David of Monroe, NC, Timothy Parker and wife Angela of Jefferson, SC; her siblings, Frank Pope and wife Wadine of Monroe, NC, Hallie Howell of  Monroe, NC, Shirley Edwards of Monroe NC, Doretta Guion of Monroe NC. There are eight grandchildren, James C. Parker and wife Alissa, Darrell M. Evans, Kimberly Motley and husband James, David P. Evans, Matthew Helms and wife, Ashley, Ashla Joplin and husband Corey, Gevin Arant, Crystal Hilbert and husband Brandon; and six great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 12:00 PM (Noon) Saturday, May 6, 2017, at Davis Funeral Home in Monroe, prior to the funeral ceremony.
