Fred William "Freddy" Burgess, Jr., of Manning, SC, passed away, Friday June 2, 2017, at his residence.

Funeral services to celebrate Fred’s life will be held 4:00 PM Thursday June 8, 2017, at Davis Funeral Chapel, 1003 East Franklin Street, Monroe, NC, 28112. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the memorial service at Davis.

Fred was born on September 21, 1960 in Union County, North Carolina a son of Joyce Carnes Burgess and the late Fred William Burgess. He was a hardworking self-employed roofer for many years.

He was preceded in death by his father; his brother Royce “Roy” Burgess; and his fiancée Marsha Ann Ivey Smith.

Survivors include his mother Joyce C. Burgess of Monroe, NC; his three daughters Michelle Helms of Monroe, NC, Sherylyn Nicole Smith Stanton (Gustavo Stanton) of Manning, SC, and Krystal Burgess of Monroe, NC; his step son Alan Smith of Ohio; his two sisters Joy Roxanne Burgess Porterfield (Craig Porterfield) and Angela Burgess Miller (Kevin Miller)  all of Monroe, NC.
