Mrs. Plyler was born on August 8th, 1932 in Union County, North Carolina, a daughter of the late Shuford Carnes and Kathleen Moser Carnes.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Nancy Ira Plyler, her husband, I. F. Plyler; three brothers, Richard Carnes, Walter Carnes and John Robert Carnes;   a sister, Lois Johnson;and a special friend, Rick Harris

Inez graduated Salutatorian from Indian Trail High School and graduated as a Registered Nurse from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing 1954.  Through her nursing career, she met the love of her life, Isom Franklin 'I.F.' Plyler, who she married in 1955.

A faithful Christian, adoring wife, selfless Mother, doting Mimi, and a loyal sister and friend to all, Inez had nothing short of a servant's heart.  Without fail, she always put the Will of God and the needs of others before her own.  She served alongside her husband I.F. at the Union County Livestock Market and welcomed everyone graciously.  She provided homemade biscuits, fruits and candy for I.F. to share through his nursing home ministry each and every Sunday.  She proudly served her Benton Heights Presbyterian Church family through her years teaching children's Sunday School, cooking meals, starting the "Needlers" quilting group, and always worshipping joyfully.  She also served her community for many years as a Girl Scout leader and long time volunteer for the Red Cross, donating over 5 gallons of blood.  Inez did all of these things with a humble heart, in compassion and with a deep-seated desire to bring glory to her God.

Inez and I.F. leave a legacy of showing Christ's love through their actions, words, and gentle kindness. They were blessed with the insight to see the needs of others and the opportunity to often fulfill those needs.

Survivors include her daughter, Jane Plyler Vandiver and husband Scott L. Vandiver of Boone, NC, two granddaughters, Susan Vandiver and Alice Vandiver; a sister, JoAnn Rowell of Monroe. There are numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thanks the wonderful sitters who dedicated their time and love to Inez for these past two years.
