Mr. J. Parks Medlin, age 86, of Monroe, North Carolina, passed away Friday, June 17, 2016, at McWhorter Hospice House of Union County.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 3:00 PM Sunday, June 19,2016, at Macedonia Baptist Church, 610 Macedonia Church Road, Monroe, NC 28112, officiated by Reverend Leland Stephens and Reverend Buddy Cutshaw.

Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Medlin was born on August 23, 1929, in Union County, North Carolina, a son of the late Troy Medlin and Kate Helms Medlin. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Marvin Medlin and wife Vera, Smith Medlin and wife Sarah, and Brooks Medlin and wife Leola; three sisters, Wilma Horne and husband Olin, Margie Adcock and husband Lloyd and Louise Preslar and husband Hoyle.

He was a retired construction superintendent with GE Vinroot Construction Company with many years of dedicated service.

He was also US Army veteran.

Parks was a charter member of the Stack Road Volunteer Fire Department, and was a Mason and a Shriner.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Eulese Hilton Medlin of Monroe; two sons, Randy Lewis Medlin and wife Susan of Orange Park, FL, and Larry Richard Medlin of Monroe; a grandson, Beau Medlin and wife Beth; two step grandchildren, Wendy Sturgin and husband Brandon and Larry Futch and wife Renee.

There are five step great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM until 2:45 PM Sunday, June 19, 2016, in the fellowship hall of Macedonia Baptist Church, prior to the funeral ceremony.
