Mr. James Morris “Pop” Pressley, Sr., age 70, of Monroe, North Carolina, passed away Monday, August 8, 2016, at his home surrounded by his loving family.

Funeral Services to celebrate his life will be conducted at 2:00 PM Thursday, August 11, 2016, at New Life Baptist Church, 826 Willoughby Road, Monroe, NC, 28110, officiated by Reverend Benny Helms and Reverend Marvin Tarlton.  Interment will follow at Mt Calvary Baptist Church cemetery.

Mr. Pressley was born on March 26, 1946, in Union County, North Carolina.  He was a retired carpenter who loved hunting and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents Nonas and Edith Pressley; his brother Eugene Pressley; and his sisters Peggy Rogers and Louise Little.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda Faye Tarlton Pressley of the home; five children James Pressley, Jr. (Mickie), Brenda Harper (Jimmy), Lisa Pressley (Curtis), Ann Newell (Ricky), and Michael Pressley; eight grandchildren Heather, Samantha, Danielle, Patrick, Jeffrey, Jennifer, Justin and Felicia; ten great grandchildren Chandler, Colton, Jordan, Dillon, Landon, Dakota, Christian, LeAnn, Rylee and Carson; his sister Joyce Moser (Wayne); and his two brothers Boyce Pressley and Tony Pressley.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Wednesday evening, August 10, 2016, at Davis Funeral Home, 1003 East Franklin Street in Monroe.
