Although I did not know Paul personally, I "knew him" in the Blue. I too served as a Charlotte city then CMPD officer for 25 years. I appreciate his willingness to serve his community and allow his courage, bravery, integrity and honor to influence and help the citizens of Monroe and surrounding areas. In reading the various condolences, he clearly was a "winner." and will be sorely missed.
To the family, keep your eyes on the Lord and he will give you strength.
To the "Blue" family, honor Paul with your daily actions and please be careful in these treacherous times.

Dear Perrette Family,
We are so very sorry for your great loss. Please know that our hearts and prayers are with you at this most difficult and sad time. Although we did not have the privilege of knowing Paul, we are fortunate enough to know Pat and Vinnie and it's through knowing them that we know that Paul was a wonderful man.
Most sincerely,

To the Perrette family, I send my condolences and prayers out to you. Thank you for sharing Paul with the Monroe community. He was truly a treasure to everyone he met and encountered. I worked with him for 2 years at the high school and it was truly a pleasure having him as a co-worker and soon after that a friend. My position required me to knock on doors and look for kids with attendance issues. At a point, Paul suggested that he go with me when I went to knock on doors. That was the thoughtful example of him. We shared many conversations, talked about our families and children and had many laughs together. He is missed and will be continued to be missed. Thank you for sharing this awesome guy with the world. God Bless your family and may your memories lessen your pain....

I must say that Pauly always made me laugh. When I meet Pauly, of course I knew he was not originally from North Carolina because of his Jersey accent and he knew I wasnt from North Carolina because of my New York/ spanglish accent. Low and behold we both discovered that we were both from the same area in " Jeerseey" as he would say it jersey style!! Smiles..., its a small world!! Those are good memories that would always be treasured!!! MISS YOU VERY MUCH MY BROTHER!! THANK YOU FOR BEING YOU AND YOUR GREAT SERVICE!!! ( Descansa En Paz, R.I.P)

He was a man who chose a life of selflessness and generosity. He was a man of strength and exemplary deeds. Officer Perrette vision of life was truly remarkable. He was indeed an inspiration to me. My heart is broken. Pauly has been in our family for 40 years, ever since he & my younger brother Bobby became best friends as children. Growing up through the years he was part of what I called in our family, the "3 Musketeers", who included Bobby, Pauly & Michael. Where one was, the other was not far behind. I remember my dad affectionately calling Pauly "Pork-o-Speno" (porcupine in Italian) because of a spikey haircut he once got. Pauly got a real kick out of that one.....and that name stuck throughout the years.
My fondest memory I have of Pauly is whenever we saw each other he would always scream out, "Rosieeeeeeeeee" and I would reply "Paulyyyyyyyyyyy", which would then be followed by a huge bear hug! I will miss those wonderful moments. There are a lifetime of memories with Pauly, (too many to count) and all of them happy.
Thank you Danielle for making him happy all of these years. My prayers are with you, Cory & Nic.
He is gone much too soon, but he will always live in our hearts!

Paul,
You were one of my Dad's best friends. Out of all of my Dad's friends you were my favorite. Not only were you my Dad's friend but, you were my friend as well. You were always a good man to my family and were always willing to lend a helping hand. You have been there for my grandparents when they first moved into the neighborhood when my family still lived in Lake Forest Preserve. You helped my family move into Shannon Vista where we became neighbors and close family friends. I have been lucky to get to know you and your family. We have experienced many laughs together at parties and the Giants Games. We have also had some pretty serious workouts together at Anytime Fitness! I will always remember the conversations that we have had about "watching my six" while on patrol. I was lucky to have your son Corey do a CMPD ride along with me and we had a blast. I will make a promise to you and your family that if Corey decides to follow in your foot steps and become a Police Officer that I will take care of him. You have obviously had an impact on many lives and I can honestly say that you have had one on mine! You are a role model and some one who I strive to be like. I love you Paul! I got your six!
