Police Officer Paul Perrette, age 49, of Waxhaw, NC, passed away on Saturday, August 19, 2017 in Cherokee, North Carolina, as a result of a motorcycle accident.
Funeral services to celebrate his life will be conducted at 11:00 AM Thursday, August 24, 2017, at Lee Park Baptist Church, 2505 Morgan Mill Road, Monroe, NC 28110, officiated by Reverend Chris Justice, Reverend Paul Saleeby, Police Chief Bryan Gilliard and Mr.Cory Perrette.
Paul was born on October 23, 1967, in Brooklyn, NY, a son of Paul Perrette and Patricia Ann Azzolini Perrette. Paul joined the Monroe Police Department on January 20, 2009. He worked as a patrol officer until December 2010 at which time he was assigned to the Violent Gang Task Force. In 2013, Paul moved to the Detective Division until he transferred to the School Resource Officer position at Monroe High School in June 2014. While serving as a Monroe Police Officer, Paul achieved the rank of Master Police Officer I. Paul loved working in the school and helping the students. He was involved in the mentoring program called Project P.A.S.S., Police Advocating Student Success, trying to instill positive and influential attitudes in the students. Paul coached at Monroe High School and assisted with the wrestle team.
Paul’s work did not stop at the school, however. He attended meetings at Turning Point once a month speaking with victims and their children. Paul was a member of the Monroe Police Special Response Team, a member of the Monroe Police Field Force Unit, a member of the Blue Horsemen Motorcycle Club and he worked with the Police Explorer Program.
Paul was not only a vital part of the Monroe Police Department, he was a vital part of the school and the community which he proudly served.
Survivors include his wife Danielle Johansen Perrette of Waxhaw, NC; his son Cory Perrette of Waxhaw, NC; his daughter Nicolette Perrette of Waxhaw, NC; his parents Paul Perrette and Patricia Perrette of The Villages, FL; his brother James “Jamie” Perrette and wife Kristine Perrette of Landings, NJ; and his nephew Cody Perrette of Landings, NJ.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM Wednesday, August 23, 2017, at Davis Funeral Home; 1003 East Franklin Street, Monroe, NC 28112.
