Mr. Royce Theron “Roy” Burgess, age 53, of Monroe, passed away Sunday May 28, 2017, at CMC-Main in Charlotte, NC.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will be conducted at 2:00 PM Friday June 2, 2017 at Davis Funeral Chapel, 1003 East Franklin Street, Monroe, NC, 28112, officiated by Reverend Frank Crump. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the memorial service at Davis.

Mr. Burgess was born on May 19, 1964, in Union County, NC, a son of Joyce Elaine Carnes Burgess and the late Fred William Burgess.  He was a self-employed roofer.

He was preceded in death by his father; and his wife Carolyn Craig Burgess.

Survivors include his mother; his sons Christopher Burgess of Florence, SC and Matthew Craig of Powder Springs, GA; his brother Freddy Burgess of Monroe, NC; his sisters Roxanne Burgess Porterfield and Angela Burgess Miller both of Monroe, NC.
