Mr. Wade W. Helms, age 94, of Waxhaw, North Carolina, passed away Saturday, June 10, 2017, at White Oak Manor of Waxhaw.

A graveside service to celebrate his life will be conducted at 11:00 AM Tuesday, June 13, 2017, at Lakeland Memorial Park Cemetery, 1901 Lancaster Ave., Monroe, NC, 28112, officiated by Reverend Curtis Laney and Reverend Chris Whittaker.

Mr. Helms was born on May 27, 1923, in Union County, North Carolina, a son of the late Levi Wilson Helms and the late Maggie Laney Helms. He was married to the late Ella Jane Richardson Helms.  He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Isom Helms and J.B. Helms and a sister, Christine Starnes.

In his earlier years, Wade worked at Springs Industries with 35 years of dedicated service.        

Survivors include two daughters, Judy H. Whitley and husband Max Whitley of  Waxhaw, and Joyce H. Broome and  the late Tommy Broome  of Waxhaw, NC; his four grandchildren, Rusty and Lori Broome of Charlotte, Kristen and Michael  Plyler of Pageland, Roderick and Sheri Whitley of Indian Trail and Kathy and Danny Huneycutt of Harrisburg; eleven great grandchildren, Alannah Plyler, Ashlynn Plyler, Anna Plyler, Grant Broome, Grayson Broome, Alex Broome, Kendall Broome, Landon Whitley, Garson Whitley, Regan Huneycutt, and Olivia Huneycutt.

The family would like to thank the staff of White Oak of Waxhaw for all their love and compassion shown to Mr. Helms during his 14 month stay at the facility.
