Mr. Wade (Pop) Garrison Elms, age 80, of Monroe, North Carolina, passed away Thursday, August 31, 2017, at his residence while checking on his neighborhood.
Funeral Services to celebrate his life will be conducted at 3:00 PM Sunday, September 3, 2017, at Davis Funeral Chapel, officiated by Reverend Billy Clevenger and Reverend Joey Rowell. Interment will follow in Lakeland Memorial Park.
Mr. Elms was born on April 20, 1937, in Union County, North Carolina, a son of the late Leon Elms and Alice Underwood Elms. He was a retired truck driver with Boggs Paving.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Margie Howard Elms
Survivors include two sons, Wade Elms, Jr. of Peachland, Steve Love and wife, LaNeal, of Monroe; five daughters, Wanda Stilwell and Alice Davis both of Monroe, Donna Singletary of Hope Mills, Pam Edwards and husband, David, and Joyce Mullis all of Marshville; one brother, Larry Elms of Monroe; one brother-in-law, DeWitt Howard and wife, Dolly, of Monroe. There are eleven grandchildren and twenty-five great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his beloved dog and companion, Petey.
The family will receive friends Sunday, September 3, 2017, from 1:30 PM until 3:00 PM at Davis Funeral Home at 1003 East Franklin Street in Monroe.
