Boyce Hamilton Mullis

February 18, 1936 ~ October 10, 2018 (age 82)

Mr. Boyce Hamilton Mullis, age 82, of Monroe, NC, passed away October 10, 2018 at his residence. 

A Celebration of Life service for Boyce will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, October 14, 2018, in the Davis Funeral Chapel, 1003 East Franklin Street, Monroe, NC, 28112, officiated by Reverend Dr. Shad Hicks. Interment will follow at Lakeland Memorial Park. After the burial committal service, a reception in Boyce's honor will be held at Davis Funeral Service. 

The family will receive friends between 6:00 - 8:00 PM Saturday, October 13, 2018 at Davis Funeral Service.

Boyce Mullis was born February 18, 1936 in Union County, NC, a son of the late Julius "Jule" Caldwell Mullis and Mary Etta Melton Mullis. Boyce was a hard worker, and was self employed as a painting contractor throughout his life. A dedicated Christian, Boyce served as a deacon of Sutton Park Baptist Church. Known for his service to the Lord, Boyce never met a stranger, and had a great personality. He is warmly remembered by his family as a good husband and father who took the time to make many memories with the ones he loved. 

Mr. Mullis is survived by his wife of almost 63 years, Barbara Helms Mullis, a daughter, Bonita Mullis Simpson and husband Richard of Monroe, NC, a son, Bengie Mullis and wife Sharron of Monroe, NC, a brother, Judge Mullis of Monroe, NC, a brother, Wilson Mullis of Richmond, VA, a sister, Julia Carpenter of Bridgewater, VA, a grandson, Jonathan Mullis of Monroe, NC, a granddaughter, Tara Simpson Beaver and husband Grant of Monroe, NC, and his newborn great-granddaughter, Aria Grace Beaver. Survivors also include numerous nieces and nephews. 

In addition to his parents, Boyce was preceded in death by two brothers; JB Mullis and Edward Mullis, and four sisters; Jeanette Whitley, Mary Lee Love, Carrie Brooks, and Faye Morton.

The family would like to thank Hospice of Union County for their outpouring of love, support, and dedication during Boyce's illness.

Although flowers are appreciated, the family requests any memorials in Boyce's honor be made to Hospice of Union County, 700 West Roosevelt Blvd, Monroe, NC 28110.
