Message from Phyllis Watson Fernandez

I just recently learned of Carolyn's death, and wanted to extend my sympathy to the family. Though we never remained in contact since my graduation in 1957 from Union High School, I have many fond school memories of Carolyn and the Mangum family. J. V. worked for my dad (Marvin Watson) as a carpenter for many years. In the late 1990's or early 2000's, while working for SSA, I was in the office lobby talking to a claimant. A woman said, "Phyllis Watson, do you know who I am"? I didn't. It was Carolyn and I am still amazed that she recognized me after all those years. Obviously, her memory was much better than mine. I will always remember Carolyn's beautiful smile and excellent skills as a cheerleader. The family is in my prayers..

My heart and prayers go out to the family in this time of mourning. Carol was always a loving and caring person who would go beyond her means to help anyone she could. The world needs more people like her to bring the love and happiness back into everyone's life as she always did.

How Can I Find Happiness in Life?
WHY THE QUESTION ARISES: Many people believe that money, fame, or beauty will make them happy. Hence, they pursue such things—only to find that happiness eludes them.
WHAT THE BIBLE TEACHES: Jesus identified the key to happiness when he said: “Happy are those conscious of their spiritual need.” (Matthew 5:3) True happiness can be found only if we take steps to fill our greatest need—our hunger for spiritual truth about God and his purpose for us. That truth is found in the Bible. Knowing that truth can help us to discern what is really important and what is not. Allowing Bible truth to guide our decisions and actions leads to a more meaningful life.—Luke 11:28.
See also Proverbs 3:5, 6, 13-18 and 1 Timothy 6:9, 10.
It is my sincere hope that these words/this knowledge helps to sustain you, your family during your Bereavement…

To the family of Mrs. Carolyn Phifer: Even though this is a sad time, try to fill your hearts full of hope and appreciation for the kind of life your love one lived. We are thankful for the ransom, because as a result of the ransom it makes the resurrection a reality. We are thankful for the tears shed by Jesus when his close friend Lazarus died showing his deep concern for those who mourn. We are thankful for the Bible's reference to death as an enemy that will no longer threaten the human family (Revelation 21: 3,4). May the holy spirit embrace you during this time of loss.
