Mr. Arant was born February 9, 1943 in Union County, North Carolina, the son of the late Odell and Grace Arant. Charles served as an aircraft mechanic for the United States Air Force, including two tours in Vietnam. His passion for aviation continued long after he left the military as he began a career with Eastern Airlines in Atlanta, GA. Charles exuded a hard work ethic combined with a strong belief in doing things the right way, and treating others with warmth and respect. A recipient of the FAA Charles Taylor Master Mechanic Award for over 50 years of safe and dedicated service in aviation, Mr. Arant always remained humble and true to doing things by the book.

An active 32nd degree mason, Charles was also a proud Shriner.

Survivors include his loving wife and co-pilot of almost 53 years, Patricia Arant. Two brothers; Roger Arant and wife Brenda of Charlotte, NC, Mitchell Arant and wife Frances of Monroe, NC, two sisters; Emma Thompson and husband Joe of Lancaster, SC, and Norma Arant of Marshville, NC. Charles is also survived by two sons; Doug Arant of Charlotte, NC, Stan Arant and wife Cherie, the parents of Charles' three grandchildren; Xavier Arant, McKenzie Arant, and Hailey Arant, all of Gulf Breeze, FL.
