Donald J. Wank

Mr. Donald "Don" Wank, age 86, of Waxhaw, NC, passed to glory March 3, 2019, after a year-long battle with cancer. He was a lifelong resident of the Salem/Damascus/Alliance Ohio area.

Don was born April  21, 1932 in Leetonia, Ohio, a son of the late Orlan Clyde Wank and Margaret Simmons Wank. Mr. Wank served our country through his service to the United States Air Force. Don was a wonderful husband, loving father to six daughters, and a self-employed businessman. He worked many years at Alliance City Hospital. Don was quick to smile and laugh, and made time for anyone needing a listening ear. His memory will live on through the many lives he has impacted during his 86 years.

Don is survived by his wife of 62 years, Sarah Renkenberger Wank, and daughters Rebecca Wank McLaughlin of Canton, OH, Sherree Wank Rummer of Salem, OH, Donna Wank Gammon of Waxhaw, NC, Cindy Wank Criss of Copley, OH, Elizabeth Wank Reda of North Canton, OH, and sister June Wank Chamberlain of East Fairfield, OH. Survivors also include Hope Allen Harris of Spring Hill, FL, who Don loved as a daughter and Jeff Thompson of Monroe, NC, who Don loved as a son; and 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Don is preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Ligori Cohen of Clearwater, FL and brother Robert "Bob" Wank of Peoria, IL.
