Mrs. Evelyn Greene Snyder, age 83, of Monroe, North Carolina, passed away Saturday, April 15, 2017, at CMC-Union, after a brief stay at Jesse Helms Nursing Center.

A funeral service to celebrate her life will be conducted at 2:00 PM Tuesday, April 18, 2017, at Zion United Methodist Church, officiated by Reverend John Stein.

Burial will follow in Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Snyder was born on April 2, 1934 in Union County, North Carolina, a daughter of the late Lee Boyd Greene and the late Mary Maxine Mangum Greene.  In her earlier years she was a CNA in the healthcare field. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, and her late husband Harry Charles Snyder.

Survivors include her son Alan Simpson and wife Sheila Polk Simpson of Monroe, NC; her two brothers Bill Greene and wife Doris Greene of Monroe and Ray Greene of Burnsville, NC and fiancée Diane Knight; her sister Rachel G. Plyler of Monroe; her three grandchildren Sherry Denise Simpson of  Monroe, John Lowell Simpson of Monroe and Stacey Ann Cumber and husband Chad Cumber of Monroe; and her four great grandchildren Megan Leigh Rush of Monroe, Madison Grace Cumber of Monroe, Tesla Rush of Locust and Rebecca Cumber of  Monroe.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM until 2:00 PM Tuesday, April 18, 2017, prior to the ceremony at Zion United Methodist Church.
