Gladys was born on March 12, 1925, in Union County to the late James Lee Carelock and Mary Nettie Hinson Carelock. Gladys is survived by her daughter, Janice Griffin Mullis (Gary). She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Lee Griffin, brothers Robert B. Carelock and Floyd Lee Carelock and sisters, Lee Richardson, Ruth Carelock, Bessie Renfro and Agnes Foulk (twin).
Gladys lived most of her life in Monroe, spending the last 16 years in Marshville. She was a homemaker and worked at Branson Company, Acme Nameplate and Scott Tools. Before retiring, she was a caregiver for 12 years.
Gladys revolved her life around her daughter. Janice was her pride and joy. She had a great love and compassion for animals. She enjoyed canning/freezing garden vegetables and would share with her friends who were unable to do the same. She was blessed with many close friends. In her last days, she would speak lovingly of the desire to see her mother. Her last words to her daughter was that she loved her, did not want to leave her but was ready to go home.
The family would like to thank Pam Smith and the loving staff at Olive Branch Family Care Home/Fairfield Manor in Marshville for their care the last two years.
