Mr. James Anderson Jordan, age 83, of Waxhaw, NC, passed away Sunday, August 5, 2018 at McWhorter Hospice House in Monroe.
The family will receive friends 6:00 - 8:00 PM Wednesday, August 8, 2018 in the Dogwood Room at Davis Funeral Service, 1003 East Franklin Street, Monroe, NC 28112.
A funeral service honoring the life of James will be held 3:00 PM, Thursday, August 9, 2018 at the Davis Funeral Chapel, officiated by Rev. Shannon Ham and Rev. Wayne Walton. Interment will follow in the Family Memorial Gardens Cemetery, on New Salem Road, Monroe, NC.
Mr. Jordan was born May 23, 1935, in Ruby, South Carolina, a son of the late Lonnie Jordan and Addie Steen Jordan. James served our country through his service to the US Army. After his military service, he was a dedicated employee for Cone Mills, where he received recognition for 32 years of perfect attendance. An avid gardener who was once published in the paper for the four pound tomato he grew, James loved the outdoors.
James is survived a daughter, Sandra Seymoure and husband Billy, of Lancaster, SC, a son, Sheldon Jordan and wife Shannon of Fort Mill, SC, and a daughter, Shonna Johnson and husband Todd of Apex, NC. Survivors also include a stepdaughter, Barbara Ann "Lou" Frady of Monroe, NC, a stepson, Rick Frady of Monroe, NC, a stepson, Steve Frady of Monroe, NC, a stepdaughter, Donna Frady of Raleigh, NC, a brother, Howard Jordan of Pageland, SC, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Jordan was preceded in death by his wife, Oletta Jordan, brothers Preston Jordan, David Jordan, and Harson Jordan, as well as sisters Clara Gilmore and Colleen Sims.
