James Bruce Watkins

Mr. James Bruce Watkins, age 80, of Marshville, North Carolina, passed away Wednesday, April 17, 2019, at his residence.

Funeral Services to celebrate the life of Bruce Watkins will be conducted at 3:00 PM, Friday, April 26, 2019, at Lanes Creek Baptist Church, 118 Marshville Water Plant Road, Marshville, NC 28103, officiated by Reverend Ronnie Collins.

Interment will follow in the Fairfield Baptist Church Cemetery, 7208 Olive Branch Road, Marshville, NC 28103.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM Friday, April 26, 2019, prior to the funeral ceremony at Lanes Creek Baptist Church.

Mr. Watkins was born on January 1, 1939, in Anson County, North Carolina, a son of the late Johnny B. Watkins and the late Creola Belle Gainey Watkins.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Rachel Earp Watkins.

Bruce was a retired maintenance mechanic with Allvac with 30 years of dedicated service.

Survivors include his two sons, David Watkins and Sharon Watkins of Stanley, NC, Tony Watkins and Crystal Watkins of Mt. Holly, NC; a daughter, Wendi Taylor and Terry Taylor of Rock Hill, SC; a step daughter, Kathy Oliver and Benny Oliver of Hawaii; two brothers, Fletcher Watkins and Lonnie Watkins; three sisters, Frances Harrington, Joann Thomas and Earlene Thomas.

There are six grandchildren, Zack, Amanda, Jordan, Courtney, Michael and Sarah; two step grandchildren, Stephanie and Brian: three great grandchildren; three step great grandchildren; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to Lanes Creek Baptist Church.
