Jimmy Warren Autry

Mr. Jimmy Warren Autry, age 80, of Monroe, NC, passed away Friday, December 21, 2018 at McWhorter Hospice House of Union County.

The family will receive friends between 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM, Sunday, December 30, 2018, at Davis Funeral Service, 1003 East Franklin Street, Monroe, NC, 28112.

A Celebration of Jimmy's Life will be held 1:00 PM, Monday, December 31, 2018, at Lee Park Baptist Church, 2505 Morgan Mill Road, Monroe, NC, 28110, officiated by Pastor Chris Justice. Interment will follow at Lakeland Memorial Park Cemetery. 

Jimmy was born September 20, 1938 in Chesterfield, SC, a son of the late Lee Autry and Ruth Baker Autry. After graduating high school, Jimmy was a member of the US Army Reserve. Upon completing his time in the Army Reserve, Jimmy was the founder and owner of of Jimmy's Auto Service for over 50 years. Always a man of faith, Jimmy was a dedicated member and Sunday School teacher of Lee Park Church since inception.  In his free time, Jimmy was an avid gardener who enjoyed spending time in his garden. He is lovingly remembered by his family for his mild manner and soft spoken nature, as well as his friendly spirit. 

Jimmy is survived by his wife of 51 years, Linda Purser Autry of Monroe, NC, a son, Marty Autry and wife Jennifer of Monroe, NC, a sister, Iris Smith and husband Elbert of Monroe, NC, a sister-in-law, Peggy Autry of Weddington, NC, and three grandchildren; Emma Autry, Kristen Cumber, Kaitlyn Cumber. Survivors also include numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Autry was preceded in death by a daughter, Sonia Autry Cumber, a sister, Nancy Ivey, and a brother, Gerald Autry.
