Mr. Kemp Neal Medlin, age 82, of Buford, SC, formerly of Monroe, North Carolina, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Friday, December 29, 2017 at Springs Memorial Hospital in Lancaster , South Carolina.

Mr. Medlin was a long time farmer. He worked for Ervin Construction Company laying hardwood flooring, an Auxiliary Union County Deputy Sheriff for approximately 40 years, and ran the Houston store at the corner of Hwy 75 and Rocky River Road for many years and lastly a Security Guard at Charlotte Pipe and Foundry Company-Plastics Division in Monroe, NC. He was a former member of Hebron United Methodist Church in Monroe.

Funeral services to celebrate his life will be 11:00 AM Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at Davis Funeral Chapel, 1003 East Franklin Street, Monroe, NC 28112 officiated by Pastor John Jenkins and Reverend Sonny Rogers. Interment will follow at Lakeland Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mr. Medlin was born October 6, 1935 in Union County, NC and was a son of the late George Washington Medlin and the late Daisy Price Medlin.                         

He was also preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Margie Ray Brock Medlin and his second wife, Mable Starnes Medlin of 10 years; his three sons, Ronnie Eugene Medlin, Terry Lynn Medlin and Delmar Ervin Medlin; his grandchildren, William Medlin and Rachel Marie Baucom; his three brothers, Bobby Medlin, Heath Medlin and George Washington Medlin II; and his five sisters, Blondean Medlin Helms, Faye Helms, Sarah Ruth Medlin, Joyce Hannah and Carol Haigler.

Survivors include his brother Larry Medlin; his sisters, Rosa Deese and Ruby Wiles; his three sons, George Neal Medlin and wife Kathy, Jimmy Ray Medlin and wife Deborah and Ken Edward Medlin and wife Cindy; his daughters, Shirley Medlin Hughes and husband Jerome and Daisy Medlin Baucom; his deceased son’s spouses, Becky Medlin Revell and Dolly Reeder Medlin; and a special daughter Joyce Helms. He also leaves behind twenty grandchildren and thirty nine great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Monday January 1, 2018 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Davis Funeral Chapel in Monroe, NC.

The family will also receive friends at the home of Shirley Hughes, 1245 Smokey Starnes Road, Lancaster SC 29720.
