Kurt W Masurat

Kurt W. Masurat, 82, of Waxhaw, NC passed away Monday, December 31, 2019.

Kurt was born in Brooklyn, NY and grew up in Wilmington, DE.  Kurt graduated from P.S. DuPont High School in Wilmington, and attended Massanuten Military Academy and East Carolina University.  He worked as a Chemist for ICI Americas in Wilmington for 22 years before moving to North Carolina in 1980. Kurt worked at Goulston Technologies in Monroe for 20 years before his retirement.

He was an avid outdoorsman who had a passion for hunting, camping and fly fishing.  He also loved rattlesnake hunting and being in the mountains whenever he could. Kurt loved to play practical jokes on his friends and family.  He took a great interest in the lives of everyone he met.  

Kurt is survived by his wife of 38 years, Beth, his five daughters who he loved with all his heart:  Karen Jackson, Judy Moseley, Janet Stevens, Beverly Owen and Casey Tuason, 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. 

A celebration of Kurt’s life will be held Saturday, January 11, 2020 at Davis Funeral Service, 1003 E. Franklin Street, Monroe, NC. The family will receive friends between 2:00 - 4:00 PM, followed by a casual Memorial Service at 4:00 PM, where anyone who would like to share their stories about Kurt is invited to do so.
