On November 5th, 2019, Leo R. Lance left the loving embrace of his family to make a final joyous and triumphant flight to his heavenly home and into the welcoming arms of our heavenly Father. After graduating from the Missionary Aviation Course at Moody Bible Institute, Leo used his passion for flight and love for the Lord to serve others through the ministries of Wycliffe Bible Translators. Leo's long career as a Wycliffe pilot flew him through Peru, Colombia, Cameroon, Africa and New Zealand for 60 years of dedicated service to our Lord. It's normal to grieve, so cry if you're sad, for we miss the ones we love, but know that Leo's journey hasn’t ended, it has only just begun. He is being hugged at this very moment in heaven by his parents, Agatha and W.D.; his three sisters, (Twin) Cleo Fant, Nita Barnes and Treva Hales; and his grandson Andrew Lance. He is standing tall and strong, with no sorrows, sickness, pain or troubles. Leo will be waiting in heaven for the love of his life, his other half, soulmate and lifetime partner, his beloved wife, Anne; his sons and daughter-in-laws Andrew and Sabra Lance, and Michael and Deborah Lance; his daughters Linda Gray and Cynthia Walterick; his grandchildren Stephen Lance, Matthew and Madeline Lance, Justin Gray, and John and Kevin Walterick; and his great-grandchildren Marley Lance, Lily and Penny Gray, and John Leo Walterick. Leo will be laid to rest at Southside Cemetery, 111 Arbor Drive, in Waxhaw, N.C. at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 10th. There will be a graveside service to celebrate Leo's life with a reception to follow at Waxhaw Bible Church, 6810 Pleasant Grove Road, from 2:30 p.m. to 3:30 pm.
