Mr. Lewis Ervin Cook, age 87, of Monroe, North Carolina, passed away Monday, October 8, 2018, at his residence.
Funeral Services to Celebrate the Life of Lewis Cook will be conducted at 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 10, 2018, at Davis Funeral Home Chapel, 1003 East Franklin Street, Monroe, NC 28112, officiated by Reverend Dr. Shad Hicks and Reverend Dallas Pressley. Entombment will follow in Lakeland Memorial Park Mausoleum, 1901 Lancaster Avenue, Monroe, NC 28112.
Mr. Cook was born on December 24, 1930, in Union County, North Carolina, a son of the late Lewis Frank Cook and Nan Lindsey Cook. Lewis was also preceded in death by his son, Joel Ervin Cook. He was also preceded in death by five sisters and a brother; Frankie Lydia Belk, Dorothy Mae Hough, Flossie Cook Broome, Reenee Cook Aycoth, Myrtle Lou Smith, and Bobby Lee Cook.
Mr. Cook was a retired painter with many years of dedicated service with the Mecklenburg County School Board. He also was a deacon for many years at Sutton Park Baptist Church. Mr. Cook served our country through his service to the US Army during the Korean War
Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Anne Rushing Cook of Monroe.
The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM until 1:45 PM Wednesday, prior to the funeral ceremony at Davis.
