Nell Pope

Miss Nellie Pearl Pope, age 101, of Charlotte, North Carolina, passed away Friday, February 9, 2018, at The Pavillion of Charlotte.

Funeral services to celebrate the life of Nellie Pearl Pope will be conducted at 3:00 PM Thursday, February 15, 2018, at Centerview Baptist Church, 2711

Old Pageland-Marshville Road, Marshville, NC 28103, officiated by Reverend Joe Stroud.

Interment will follow at Faulks Baptist Church Cemetery, 2234 Faulks Church Road, Marshville, NC 28103.

Miss Pope was born on December 24, 1916, in Union County, North Carolina, a daughter of the late John Russell Pope and the late Hattie Nash Pope.

She was also preceeded in death by four brothers, Hoyle Pope, Ellis Pope, Roy Pope and Braxton Pope; and two sisters, Gertie Pope Presson and Lucy Pope Thomas. Nellie was a retired cosmetologist having owned the Avalon Beauty Shop in Charlotte.

Survivors include a niece, Peggy Padgett of Charlotte,NC; two nephews, Lewis Pope of Charlotte, NC and Bobby Joe Thomas of White Plains, NY.
There are numerous great nieces and great nephews.

The family will receive friends from  2:00 PM until 2:45 PM Thursday, February 15, 2018, prior to the funeral ceremony at Centerview Baptist Church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Centerview Baptist Church, 2711 Old Pageland-Marshville Road, Marshville, NC 28103 or to Hospice and Palliative Care of Charlotte, 1420 East 7th Street, Charlotte, North Carolina, 28204.
