Mr. Robert P. Cassidy, Sr., age 73, of Monroe, NC, formerly of Bridgeport, CT,  passed away Friday, September 8, 2017, at his residence.

Funeral services will be conducted at 6:30 PM Wednesday night, September 13, 2017, at Davis Funeral Home Chapel, 1003 East Franklin Street, Monroe, NC 28112, officiated by Father Benjamin Roberts.

Mr. Cassidy was born on January 20, 1944, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, son of the late Stephen Cassidy and Philomena Pettite Cassidy.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jane Chalker Cassidy on July 9, 2016. Mr. Cassidy was retired from utility gas services.

Survivors include two daughters, Jackie Ballard  and Laura Madore (Bruce) both of Monroe, NC; two sons, Robert Cassidy, Jr. (Donica) of Monroe,NC and Brian Cassidy (Heidi) of Waxhaw, NC; there are seventeen grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 5:00 PM to 6:15 PM prior to the funeral service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Union County, 700 West Roosevelt Blvd., Monroe, NC 28110.
