Ron Goetchius

October 12, 1937 ~ November 25, 2018 (age 81)

Early Sunday Morning, November 25th, 2018, Ronald James Goetchius, loving husband and father, passed away at the age of 81.

The family will receive friends between 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM, Sunday, December 2nd, 2018 at Davis Funeral Service, 1003 East Franklin Street, Monroe, NC, 28112. A Memorial Gathering in Ron's honor will follow in the Davis Funeral Chapel. 

Ron was born on October 12, 1937 in Beacon, New York. He received his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering at NYU in 1963.  He accepted a Research and Development position with Celanese which prompted a move to Charlotte, NC with his family. Later, Ron co-founded and served as the Vice President for CEM Corporation and after a successful career, retired at the age of 50.  He married his high school sweetheart, Joan Steffanci. They raised three sons, Ron Jr., Chris, and Tim and one daughter, Melissa.

As a young boy he played baseball, and achieved the Eagle Scout, Order of the Arrow recognition.  As an adult, he became an accomplished private pilot. Ron also volunteered in Civil Air Patrol participating in search and rescue missions.  He enjoyed boating, fishing, golfing, and skiing with his wife and friends. Ron dedicated time and effort into researching his family genealogy, as he valued both history, and heritage. He is lovingly remembered by his friends and family for his generous heart, quick wit, and dry sense of humor. 

Survivors include his loving wife of 61 years, Joan, his three sons; Ron Jr., Chris, and Tim, his brother, Peter, six grandchildren, and three great grandchildren.

Ron was preceded in death by his father, Carlton Ward Goetchius, his mother, Mary Helen Losee, his brother Bob, and daughter Melissa Sawyer
