Roy Arnold Broome, age 69, of Monroe, NC, passed away Sunday, August 18, 2019 at Atrium Health Union, surrounded by his loving family.
A Celebration of Life for Arnold will be held 4:00 PM Friday, August 23, 2019 in the Davis Chapel, 1003 East Franklin Street, Monroe, NC, 28112, officiated by Rev. Tim Madaris and Rev. David Casper.
Mr. Broome will lie in state in the Dogwood Room of Davis Funeral Service between the hours of 10:00 AM and 6:00 PM on Thursday, August 22, 2019.
Arnold was born July 25, 1950 in Cabarrus County, NC, a son of Ruth Lemmond Broome and the late Donald Ernest Broome. Throughout his life, Arnold was a machinist, and retired from Equipment & Supply after over 20 years of dedicated service. In his earlier years, Arnold enjoyed playing softball, fishing, sharing his great sense of humor while joking with others, and spending time with the family and friends he loved dearly. He was a dedicated man of God who devoted time as a Sunday School director, Sunday School teacher, deacon chairman, choir member, and youth leader. His unwavering faith and compassionate spirit will be warmly remembered by those who knew him.
In addition to his mother, Arnold is survived by his wife of 49 years, Lillian Walden Broome, his daughter, Crystal Lillian Broome, a brother, Wayne Broome (Lessie), three sisters; Wanda Sue Stephens, Peggy Lassiter (Donnie) and Debbie Outen, two special aunts; Louise Price and Frances Cunningham.
Arnold was also preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Broome Hardwick.
