Terry was born November 28, 1952, in Hammond, Indiana, the son of the late John E. Orr and Marie Baker Orr. Prior to attending Marquette University, Terry attended Bishop Knoll Institute in Hammond. During his college years, Terry played rugby for Marquette and earned his Bachelors of Science in math and statistics. He applied his acquired knowledge for over 40 years in the information technology industry, and worked as a project manager for the State of Kentucky since 2002. Terry was a man who was passionate about his work and thankful for the many friendships he developed along the way. Although professionally Terry was hard working and analytical, in his personal life he was known as soft-spoken and mild mannered. He enjoyed working with his hands, and spent much time in his garden and on his woodworking projects. Above all, Terry was dedicated to his family and friends. With a bear hug greeting you had to be prepared for, Terry will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
Loved by all his family and friends, Terry is warmly remembered as many things; Husband, Dad, Grampa, TerrBear, Brother, Uncle Terry, and Friend. Terry is survived by his irrevocably dedicated and eternally loving wife, Marj Orr, as well as her three children; Kyle Gould (Crissy), Piper Marquette (Matt), and Brandi Stancil (Eric), his three daughters; Amanda Peters (Matthew), Becky Murphy (Kevin), and Sarah Orr, his sisters; Barbara Matovina and Donna Yednak, as well as 19 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and five dogs; Khyzer, Khyper, Kayleigh, Archer, and Lilly.
In addition to his parents, Terry was preceded in death by his sister, Marilyn Schneider.
Although flowers are appreciated, the family requests that memorials be made in Terry’s honor to Operation LAMB/Knights of Columbus 9560 C/O St. Vincent De Paul Church, 6828 Old Reid Road, Charlotte, NC, or Saint Jude’s Children’s Hospital, 501 Saint Jude Place, Memphis, TN, 38105. Terry loved life and found peace in his service to others. Contributions to aid and assist others are not only a comfort during this difficult time, but also a reflection of the life Terry lived.
