Mr. Marvin Vann "Red" Medlin, age 67, of Monroe, North Carolina, passed away Friday, March 8, 2019, at his residence.
Funeral services to celebrate the life of Vann Medlin will be conducted at 3:00 PM Tuesday, March 12, 2019, at Davis Funeral Chapel, 1003 East Franklin Street, Monroe, NC 28112, officiated by Reverend Alan Rushing. Interment will follow in the Mill Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:45 PM Tuesday at Davis Funeral Service prior to the funeral ceremony.
Mr. Medlin was born on March 7, 1952, in Union County, North Carolina, a son of the late Henry Medlin and Mabel Pressley Medlin. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kalan Helms, a step daughter Lisa Bumgarner, and three sisters, Dot Adcock, Margaret Rowell and Betty Lee.
Red was a live haul supervisor with Tyson Foods and also a self employed chicken farmer.
Survivors include his wife, Wendy Tarlton Medlin of Monroe; two daughters, Carrie Medlin Helms and David Briecke of Monroe and Amanda Medlin Green and Ryan Rushing of Monroe; four step sons, Christopher Tarlton and Sandy Tarlton of Wingate, Thomas Tarlton and Brooke Tarlton of Charlotte, Shane Tarlton of Monroe and Scott Elms and Angie Elms of Monroe; two brothers, Neal Medlin and Hoyle Medlin; a sister, Shirley Carpenter; a brother in law, Adrian Rowell. There are 13 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
Although flowers are appreciated, the family requests that memorials in Mr. Medlin's honor be made to Hospice of Union County, 700 West Roosevelt Blvd., Monroe, NC 28110.
