Evelyn “Anne” Tice Morris, 87, of Monroe passed away on April 4, 2023, at White Oak Manor of Waxhaw. Her funeral service will be at 2 PM on Monday at Central United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Lakeland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the church from 1 PM until 2 PM before the service.
Born April 2, 1936, in Anson County, NC she was the daughter of the late Robert Glenn Tice and Lucy Evelyn Thomas Tice. She attended and graduated from Wadesboro High School and Women’s College (Now UNCG). She was a member of Central United Methodist Church and was a retired school teacher with 34 years of service, having served in Columbia, SC, College Park, MD, Cheraw, SC, 20 years at Walter Bickett, and 8 years at Benton Heights. In retirement, she volunteered at Healthquest, Walter Bickett School, and Central United Methodist Church where she was an officer of the Pathfinders Sunday School Class, on the Worship Committee, leader of the New Directions Group, and a Bible School Volunteer. She enjoyed bridge, cross stitch, and playing dominoes with her friends.
She loved teaching and she loved her students. Her constant love and correspondence with her former children always meant so much. She cherished all gifts and notes from her students and always remembered each story behind each one of them.
Mrs. Morris was preceded in death by her husband Robert Bennett “Ben” Morris in 1993. Survivors include sons Robert Bennett “Rob” Morris, Jr. and wife Angie of Knoxville, TN and Jeffrey Warren Morris and wife Dana of Monroe, granddaughter Olivia Bennett Morris and grandson Jeffrey “Ayden” Morris. She was preceded in death by a brother Robert Glenn Tice, Jr. in 2006.
