Beulah Hilton Obituary

Mrs. Beulah Deese Hilton, age 74, passed away Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at Atrium Health Union.

Beulah's family will receive friends between 7:00-8:00 PM on Friday, September 10, 2021, in the Azalea Room of Davis Funeral Service, 1003 E. Franklin St., Monroe, NC, 28112.

Beulah was born August 4, 1947 in Union County, NC, a daughter of the late John Deese and Etta Threatt Deese. Beulah worked in the textile industry for many years, and was the first female in the area to be certified as an equipment engineer. Although manufacturing was her trade, caregiving was her calling. Beulah dedicated her life to the lives of others, taking care of anyone who was in need. A loving wife and mother who always put her children first, she was more than a parent, she was a best friend. Beulah lived for her children, and always took the time to do the extra things to remind them of her love. She was famous for her birthday messages at midnight, and her family knew not to pick up, as she always wanted to sing "Happy Birthday" on their voicemail. Beulah also was excited about the "birthday trifecta", as she had a daughter and granddaughter born on her birthday. Remaining active throughout her life, she also enjoyed softball, and bowling. One of a kind, with a sense of humor and presence that brought warmth, brightness, and love into the lives of all around her, Beulah's legacy will live on for generations.

Left to cherish her memory are her children; a daughter, Lisa Hilton, a daughter, Doris Brown (Gerald), a son, Larry Hilton Jr., a daughter, Katherine Walker, a sister, Barbara Staton, a brother, Johnny Deese, a brother, Jimmy Deese (Isabell), a brother, Carson Deese (Eloise). Survivors also Beulah's grandchildren; Shari, Cameron, Brooke, Reba, Amber, Mariah, and Nicholas, as well as 9 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, six brothers, and the love of her life, Mr. Larry D. Hilton Sr.

Beulah's children want to share the following poem, as a tribute to the mother they will always love.

"Your Mother is Always With You"

She’s the whisper of the leaves as you walk down the street.

She’s the smell of certain foods you remember, flowers you pick, the fragrance of life itself.

She’s the cool hand on your brow when you’re not feeling well.

She’s your breath in the air on a cold winters’ day.

She is the sound of the rain that lulls you to sleep, the colors of a rainbow.

She is Christmas morning.

Your mother lives inside your laughter.

She’s the place you come from, your first home.

She’s the map you follow with every step you take.

She’s your first love, your first friend, even your first enemy.

But nothing on Earth can separate you.

Not time.

Not space.

Not even death.
