Mrs. Bobbie Lee Tarlton Rushing, age 88, of Monroe, NC, passed away peacefully on October 17, 2021 at Hillcrest Baptist Church Rest Home.
A graveside service to honor Bobbie’s life will be held at 2:00 PM Wednesday, October 20, 2021 at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery, 6223 Love Mill Road, Monroe, NC, 28110, officiated by Pastor Joey Query and Rev. Arval Lane Rushing.
For those who would like to pay their respects prior to the service, Mrs. Rushing will lie in state in the church cemetery beginning at 1:00PM, prior to the ceremony.
Bobbie was born November 27, 1932, in Union County, NC, a daughter of the late Winfred Tarlton and Beddie Esther Green. Bobbie was a caring soul who devoted her life to taking care of everyone she loved. Known for her chicken and dumplings and sweet tea, you could always count on her to bring a meal to any family occasion. She enjoyed the art of quilting and made a special keepsake for all that she loved. Bobbie also appreciated the simple beauty of God’s creation and enjoyed gardening with John, her husband of 69 years. Her impact on this world was immeasurable and her memory will forever live on in all those that loved her.
Bobbie is survived by her daughter, Jeannie Rushing Hinson (Kim), her son, Chris Rushing (Brenna), her grandchildren; John Rushing, Esther Smith (Terry), Kylend Mullis, Jason Little, and her great-grandchildren; Carter, Cameron, and Cayleigh Oglesby. Bobbie is also survived by one brother, Howard Tarlton (Dottie).
In addition to her parents, Bobbie was preceded in death and reunited in eternal life with her husband, John Adams Rushing; her grandson, John Adrian Mullis; 6 brothers and 5 sisters.
Although flowers are appreciated, the Rushing family requests that memorials in Bobbie’s honor be made to Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery, 6223 Love Mill Road, Monroe, NC, 28110.
