Butch Zimmerman

Mr. Franklin Henry "Butch" Zimmerman Jr., age 74, of Marshville, NC, passed away on Sunday, May 2, 2021 at Atrium Union. 

Funeral Services to honor Butch's life will be held on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 at 11:30 AM at the Family Life Center of Philadelphia Baptist Church, 5709 Philadelphia Church Road, Marshville, NC 28103, officiated by Rev. Caroll Anthony and Rev. Tom Walden. Interment will immediately follow in the church cemetery. Prior to the service, Butch's family will receive friends beginning at 10:30 AM. 

Butch was born on December 3, 1946 in Mecklenburg County, NC, a son of the late Franklin Henry Zimmerman Sr. and Margaret Jeanne Braswell Wykel. Butch was a hard working, dedicated man who spent 20 plus years working as a Service Manager for Gimco International and another 20 plus years as a Transportation Director for Circle S Ranch. After retiring, he was employed with Monroe Hardware and also volunteered with Lanes Creek Volunteer Fire Department as Chairman of the Board. His other hobbies and interests included the Union Co. Antique Tractor and Power Club, the Monroe York Rites and Oasis Shriners. As much as he loved his work and staying busy, there was nothing more important to him than family. He was a proud husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather as well as a dedicated member to his church family at Philadelphia Baptist Church. The memories Butch made with his family and long lasting friends will continue to be cherished by all the lives he touched. 

Butch is survived by his loving wife, Melba Davis Zimmerman; his son, Brian "Rusty" Kiker (Alicia); his daughter, Margaret Page Nelson; eight grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Survivors also include his sister Leslie Z Helms (Reid); his sister-in-law, Nadine Walden (Tom); his brother-in-law, Michael Davis (Bonnie); and a very special nephew, Jeremy Carnes (Kendra). 

In addition to his parents, Butch was preceded in death by his nephew, Tim Carnes. 

Although flowers are appreciated, the family requests that memorials in Butch's honor be made to the Philadelphia Baptist Church Building Fund, 5709 Philadelphia Church Road, Marshville, NC 28103.
