Charles Denny Rawls

Charles Denny Rawls, 89, of Monroe passed away on December 24, 2022.  A memorial service will be held at 2 PM on Thursday, January 5, 2023 at the First Presbyterian Church of Monroe with Pastor Jason Hickman officiating.  The family will receive friends following the memorial service at the church. 

Born September 6, 1933 in Union County, NC, he was the son of the late Edward Montrose Rawls and Eva Outen Rawls.  He was a member of First Presbyterian Church where he served as a Deacon.   He was a veteran of the US Army during the Korean Conflict.  He retired from A & P Grocery Store and the Union County Schools.  He also drove for several years for Union County Transportation.  He was a Mason as well as a Shriner and a member of the American Legion Post 27. 

Mr. Rawls was preceded in death by his wife, Carolyn Rawls.  Survivors include son Tony Dennis Rawls of Little River, SC, daughter Dana Pastores (Glen) of Monroe, four grandchildren Malia K. Bean, Crystal Nichole Witmore, Kayla Rose Witmore and Tony Aaron Rawls, and four great-grandchildren.
