Charlie was born November 26, 1933, in Union County, NC, a son of the late Bill Haney and Faye Edwards Haney. Mr. Haney served our country through his military service in the United States Army. A hard worker throughout his life, Charlie retired twice; first from Fredrickson Freight Lines, and again from Conway Southern Express. One of a kind, Charlie was a kind husband, father, and grandfather that loved his family dearly. He also enjoyed watching NASCAR races and NBA games, and had an ability to remember all kinds of basketball stats. Remembered by his family as a good, down to earth man with a dry sense of humor, his memory will live on in the hearts and minds of all that knew him.

Charlie is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Shirley "Pat" Haney, a daughter, Teresa Darnell, a daughter, Ginger Tabor (Tommy), a stepson, Bruce Wicker Jr. (Rana), a stepdaughter, Sonya Brickley (Rick), a stepdaughter, RenĂ© Jenkins, a brother, Sherrill Haney (Barbara), a sister, Nancy Mangum (Jimmy), a sister, Hilda Edwards, ten grandchildren; Josh Roberts, Aaron Reilly (Payton), Mackenzie Reilly, Patrick Reilly, Jason Brickley, Heather Konold (Matt), Camden Jenkins (Katherine), Makayla Jenkins, Charlie Wicker, Anna Wicker, and one great-grandchild, Kai Jenkins. Survivors also include numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Charlie was preceded in death by a brother, Ned Haney, a brother-in-law, William Edwards, and a sister-in-law, Betty Haney.

Although flowers are appreciated, Mr. Haney's family requests that memorials in Charlie's honor be made to Hospice of Union County, 700 W. Roosevelt Blvd., Monroe, NC 28110.
