Doris Marie (Thomas) Martin

Doris Marie Martin, 78, of Waxhaw passed away on February 5, 2023 in Atrium Health Union.  A visitation will be held at Davis Funeral Service on Saturday February 11th at 2 PM.. 

Born November 3, 1944 in Maysville, NC, she was the daughter of the late Philemon Hughes Thomas and Clara Mae Irvin Thomas.  She worked for many years as an Insurance Agent and owned her own agency.  She served as a missionary in Mexico following her career in insurance.  She loved life and lived her life for the Lord, she was ambitious, motivated, a self-starter, and hardworking; a loving and devoted wife and mother, avid Gardner, wonderful cook, and someone who would help a stranger in need.  She was also crafty and enjoyed do it yourself projects and traveling.

Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by her husband Paul Darrel Martin Sr. and a daughter Angela Claire Martin.  Survivors include son Paul Darrel Martin Jr. “Bobby” and wife Eliza of Sanford, NC, daughter Laurie Martin Cunningham and husband Gregory of Waxhaw, NC, sisters Betty Jones of Jacksonville, NC, and Shirley Byrd of TX, and five grandchildren Ashley Cunningham, McKenna Cunningham and Micaylah Cunningham, Ethan Martin and Beth Martin.
