Obituary
Emily Ann Thomas Dunning, 67, of Charlotte passed away on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 in the McWhorter Hospice House in Monroe. Her funeral service will be held at the Mausoleum of Charlotte Memorial Gardens on Friday, February 10, 2023 at 1 PM with Pastor Michael Singer officiating.
Born September 7, 1955 in Mahoning County, Ohio she was the daughter of Josephine Petrella Thomas of Ohio and the late John Phillip Thomas. She was a school teacher at St. Gabriel’s in Charlotte and Indian Land Middle School in Indian Land, SC. Her first teaching job was at St. Joseph’s in Youngstown, Ohio. Ms. Dunning was a member of Freedom House Church. She loved her Italian heritage and everything associated with Italy, especially its food. Ms. Dunning also loved to paint.
In addition to her mother she is survived by brother John Thomas and his wife Patricia of Ohio, and cousin Janet DeMayo.
