James Dennis Briggs, age 73, of Litchfield, NH passed away on Saturday, September 2nd surrounded by family and friends following a long and hard-fought battle with cancer.
Jim was born on October 6, 1949, in Boston, MA, son of the late Henry James Briggs, Jr. and the late Theresa Marie Briggs ( Hennessy). He was baptized at St. Mary’s Church, Charlestown, MA.
Jim grew up in Charlestown, MA and Wilmington, MA. He graduated from Wilmington High School. Jim worked as a police officer with the Nashua Police Department for over 35 years retiring in 2008. He was proud of his many years of service as a police officer and Detective as an evidence technician and the many friends he made during his career.
In his free time and in retirement, Jim was an avid fisherman. He spent many years fishing on the Androscoggin River in New Hampshire as well as in the Florida Keys. He enjoyed photography and was a fan of all Boston sports and NASCAR.
He is survived by his son Matthew Briggs and wife Kandi of Monroe, NC, his grandchildren, Taylor, Nicole and Kayla, his great-grandchildren Hezekiah and Josiah, his sister in law Anne, nephew William and many other friends and family. He was predeceased by his parents Henry and Theresa Briggs, his brother William Briggs and other beloved family and friends.
A celebration of life will be planned and announced at a later date.
