Janice Helms

Mrs. Janice Loree Helms, age 79, of Monroe, NC, passed away peacefully Monday, March 8, 2021, at Hospice of Union County. 

Visitation for Mrs. Helms will be held between 10:00 AM - 4:00 PM Thursday, March 11, 2021 in the Azalea Room of Davis Funeral Service, 1003 E. Franklin St., Monroe, NC 28112. 

Janice was born May 15, 1941, in Union County, NC, a daughter of the late Conrad Baker and Dana Starnes Baker. Although she worked in the textile industry for several years, the work she loved was as a homemaker. A devout Christian who loved life to the fullest regardless of circumstance, Janice gave the joy in her heart to all around her. A member of Westend Baptist Church, she loved the Lord and her church family. She not only enjoyed reading her bible, she took every opportunity to discuss scripture and share her faith. Janice was a strong woman who never took herself too seriously and liked to make others laugh. She could often be found with a smile on her face, and a sense of humor that put a smile on everyone else's as well. A devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who loved her family dearly, she will be always remembered and deeply missed. 

Janice is survived by a son, Craig Helms, a daughter, Bobbi Loree Hannah (Dwayne), a sister, Carol Gordon, a brother, Conrad Baker (Vickie), 7 grandchildren, and 4 great-grandchildren. 

In addition to her parents, Janice was preceded in death by her first husband, Bobby Helms, her second husband, Thomas Dewey Helms, two sons; Terry Helms and Donald Helms, and a grandson, Dexter Hannah.
