Jewel “Joann” Thurman Tutterow, 78, of Waxhaw passed away Monday, January 31, 2022 in her home. Her funeral service will be 1 PM on Thursday, February 3, 2022 in the Davis Funeral Service Chapel with Rev. Ed Thompson officiating. Burial will follow in the Southside Cemetery (Waxhaw City Cemetery) in Waxhaw. The family will receive friends from 12 until 1 PM at Davis Funeral Service prior to the hour of the service.
Born May 7, 1943 in Atlanta, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Edward Oliver Thurman and Ruth Moore Thurman. Mrs. Tutterow graduated from Murphy High School and then went to business school and after graduation worked for one of the most well-known legal firms in Atlanta. She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church of Indian Trail. She loved working in her yard and loved to cook. Her two loves were her granddaughters Brittany and Mycala. She was there for all their activities including horse lessons, dances, proms, boyfriends, weddings and the arrival of her great-grandson Rowe. Mrs. Tutterow loved the Lord with all her heart and instilled this love in her children and grand-children.
Mrs. Tutterow is survived by her husband Robert “Bob” Tutterow of the home, son Brad Tutterow (Teri) of Indian Land and Tracy Tutterow of Waxhaw, sisters Esther Porter of Athens, GA, Barbara Ann Malone of Athens, GA, and 2 grandchildren Brittany Gibbs (Hampton) of Greenville, SC and Mycala Schoeppner of Waxhaw, and 1 great-grandson Rowe Gibbs.
