John Arrowood

Mr. John William Arrowood, age 80, of Polkton, NC, passed away Friday, February 5, 2021, at Atrium Health Anson.

Funeral services honoring John's life will be held 3:00 PM, Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at Rocky River Baptist Church, 297 Rocky River Church Road, Polkton, NC 28135 officiated by Reverend Dennis Stegall and Reverend Don Thompson.  The family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. We ask that all who plan to attend practice proper social distancing including face coverings. 

John was a loving husband to his wife, Nita for 31 years. He was an active member of Rocky River Baptist Church, even serving as a deacon in previous years. John loved to sing gospel songs acapella and apply his own style to each and every song. After retiring from Allvac at the age of 62, he devoted his time to taking care of and enjoying time with his family. John was an outdoorsman who loved to fish, play basketball and softball, and bowling. Those that knew him knew he loved to chew tobacco and solve sudoku puzzles. He was also a jokester who loved to pick and nag on the ones he loved.

John is survived by his wife, Nita Baker Arrowood of Polkton, NC; three Sisters, Linda Rittenhouse, of Cummings, GA, Jo Ellen Ginn (Roger), of Indian Trail, NC, and Cathy Sands, of Gastonia, NC; Two Sons, Richie Arrowood (Tammy) of Marshville, NC, and Brian Griffin of Polkton, NC; Three Grandchildren, Matt, Tiffany, and Kaitlyn Arrowood, and several step grandchildren; and one Daughter In Law, Rose Arrowood of Marshville, NC. John is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. 

John was preceded in death by his parents, John Lowe Arrowood and Clara Parsons Arrowood; and his son, Rodney Arrowood. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in John's honor be made to Rocky River Baptist Church, 297 Rocky River Church Road, Polkton, NC 28135 .
