Mr. John Ellis (Jake) Polk, age 86, of Monroe, North Carolina, passed away Thursday, June 18, 2020 at his residence.
Graveside funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Saturday, June 20, 2020, at Union Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, 3619 Morgan Mill Road, Monroe, NC, 28110, officiated by Elder Ronnie Loudermilk and Elder Larry Austin.
Mr. Polk was born on June 21, 1933, in Union County, North Carolina, a son of the late Carl Polk and the late Lillian Rushing Polk. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Heath Polk and Ray Polk; and two sisters, Betty Drake and Linda Baucom.
He was a retired finisher and straightener operator with Teledyne Allvac with 34.5 years of dedicated service.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Rachel Honeycutt Polk of Monroe; a son, Tim Polk and wife Jill Thomas Polk of Monroe; three daughters, Sheila Polk Simpson and husband Alan Simpson of Monroe, Marcia Polk Hayes and husband Scott Hayes of Rock Hill, SC, and Monica Polk Mizzell and husband Derrick Mizzell of Monroe; three brothers, Boyd Polk and wife Joan Purser Polk of Monroe, Jerry Polk and wife Patsy Stegall Polk of Monroe, Larry Polk and wife Delane Eudy Polk of Monroe; two sisters, Jeanette Baucom of Marshville and Louise Byrum and husband Dennis Byrum of Monroe; and a sister in law, Patsy Haigler Polk.
There are 9 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
