Mr. L.C. “Duckie” James, age 85, of Monroe, NC, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, February 15, 2021, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral services honoring L.C.’s life will be held 12:00 PM, Friday, February 19, 2021 at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, 2524 Stack Road, Monroe, NC 28112, officiated by Pastor Jason Myers and Rev. Shad Hicks. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Interment will immediately follow at Sunset Memory Gardens, 8901 Lawyers Road, Mint Hill, NC 28227. We ask that all who plan to attend practice proper social distancing including face coverings.
L.C. will lie in state in the H. Vann Davis Memorial Chapel, 1003 E. Franklin St. Monroe, NC, 28112 on Thursday, February 19, 2021, between the hours of 11:00 AM - 6:00 PM for those that wish to sign the register book or view prior to Friday's arrangements.
L.C. was born April 1, 1935, in Chesterfield County, SC, a son of the late Spofford James and Bessie Tucker James. Throughout his life, L.C. worked in the automotive industry, and retired from Beck Mercedes as an auto body technician. There was nothing L.C. couldn't fix, as he put pride and effort into anything he worked on. Although he enjoyed automobiles, his true passion was his faith, his family, and helping others. A member and deacon of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Monroe, L.C. also served as a deacon at New Hope Baptist Church in Charlotte. L.C. was a member of the Oasis Shrine and honorary member of the Hejaz Temple. He was greatly moved by visiting the Shriner's hospital in Greenville, SC, and helping those in time of need was a mission to L.C. A Godly, hard-working provider and protector, L.C. is remembered by his family for being trustworthy, compassionate, and honest. A husband of 65 years, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, L.C. is greatly missed but leaves behind a legacy his family will continue to cherish for generations.
L.C. is survived by his wife, Lenora Mullis James; four children, Janice J. Lowery (David), Patsy A. Collins (Marty), Sandra J. Carroll (Dale), Charles L. James (Gina); five grandchildren, Steve Alexander (Ashley), Craig Alexander (Angela), Joshua Carroll (Savannah), Kelly James, L.C. “Luke” James; seven great-grandchildren, Brie, Bella, Olivia, Stephen, Isaac and James Alexander and Bezalel Carroll; two siblings, Jerrell James and Margaret Sheets.
In addition to his parents, L.C. was preceded in death by three sisters and six brothers.
Although flowers are appreciated, the family requests donations be made in L.C.’s memory to the Jehovah-Jireh Project at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, 2524 Stack Road, Monroe, NC
