Mary Lee (Threatt) Guion

Mary Lee Threatt Guion, 89, of Monroe passed away on June 6, 2022 in the Union County Hospice House.  Her funeral will be 2 PM on Thursday, June 9, 2022 at Mountain Springs Baptist Church with Rev. Barry Byrd and Rev. Luke Christy officiating.  Entombment will follow at Lakeland Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends at the church from 1 until 2 prior to the hour of the service.

Born May 27, 1933 in Union County, NC she was the daughter of the late William F. Threatt and Essie Medlin Threatt.  She was a member of Mountain Springs Baptist Church and was retired as a cafeteria manager with the Union County Public Schools.  She loved to work in the yard and she loved to cook.  Mrs. Guion was a member of St. Luke’s Sewing Circle and she touched many lives with the many prayer shawls she crocheted and donated to the Prayer Shawl Ministry at Back to Bethel Baptist Church. 

She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Billy Guion in 2008.  Survivors include two children Lynn West and husband Rick of Monroe and Randy Guion and wife Karen of Monroe, two grandchildren Jessica and Will Guion, sister-in-law Virginia Guion of Monroe, a nephew Tony Guion, a niece Melissa Carland Tenpenny and her heart sister, Linda Knull and special friend Judy Mundie.  A sister, Louise Carland, preceded her in death. 

Memorials may be made to Mountain Springs Baptist Church, 2509 Mountain Springs Church Rd., Monroe NC, 28112.
