Mrs. Mildred Simpson, age 95, of Monroe, North Carolina, passed away Saturday, March 16, 2013, at White Oak Manor in Waxhaw, North Carolina.

Funeral Services to celebrate the life of Mildred Simpson will be conducted at 12:30 PM Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at Davis Funeral Home Chapel, 1003 East Franklin Street. Interment will follow at Grace United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Simpson was born on October 19, 1917, in Union County, North Carolina, a daughter of the late William Robert Mullis, Sr. and Eliza Jane Gurley Mullis. She was a homemaker.

She was married to the late William Broadus Simpson, Sr. and was preceded in death by a son, William Broadus "Butch" Simpson, Jr. and a daughter, Karen Honeycutt. Mildred was also preceded in death by two grandsons, Jeremy Simpson and Brian Honeycutt; a brother, William Robert Mullis, Jr. and a sister, Ruby Funderburk.

Survivors include one son, Dennis Simpson and wife, Pam, of Waxhaw; four daughters, Doris Simpson Dalton of Charlotte, Judy Squires and husband, Tommy, and Robin Gilbert, all of Cape May, NJ, Jean Gregory and husband, Bill, of Raleigh; four grandsons, Mike Edwards of Marshville, Jason Simpson of Monroe, Greg Gilbert and Brad Gilbert, both of Cape May, NJ; four granddaughters, Kelly Surratt of Jefferson, SC, Erin Elliott of Waxhaw, Alex Simpson of Asheville, Marti Banach of Cape May, NJ. There are five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 11:00 AM until 12:15 PM prior to the funeral service on Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at Davis Funeral Chapel.
