Obituary
Patricia Diann Smith Spake, 73, of Waxhaw passed away on February 11, 2022, in Atrium Health Union. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Born February 2, 1949, in Pickens County, SC. She was the daughter of Laura Annie Mae Sentell Smith and Roy Daniel Smith. She was educated at Easley High School and attended cosmetology school. She worked as a beautician, paramedic/EMT and was also a homemaker. Mrs. Spake was a member of Osceola United Methodist Church in Lancaster, SC.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Pinkney Spake. Survivors include, Richard Alvin Spake, Laura Jayne Whitley (Brian), and Rebekah Diana Spake all of Waxhaw, NC. As well as many adopted children she loved as her own. Also surviving are a brother, Jack Smith (Judy) and six grandchildren, Samantha Rathburn, Dustin, Logan and Zoe Whitley, Zachary Spake, Jack Spake, and one great-grandchild, Addyson Rathburn. Also preceding her in death were, sisters Carol Merritt, Peggy Capps, and brothers, Feltz Smith, Dwight “Frog” Smith.
