Pete was born in Union County, NC during the Great Depression, a son of the late Willie B. and Edna Parker Marze. He was the eldest of four children. He graduated from Indian Trail High School in 1951 and married his high school sweetheart, Adelaide Boyd Marze shortly afterwards. They had two children, Douglas and Elaine Marze. Pete was a lifelong resident of Union County except for the time in which duty called and he served our country in the United States Army. He retired from the Package Products Company in Charlotte. Pete was a lover of nature and never lost his appreciation for the beauty of God's world. On every sunny day he found time to sit outdoors and enjoy the Carolina blue sky. Pete also cherished the company of friends and neighbors who joined him outside. At the age of 86, he flew for the first time with his daughter to Arizona and visited the Grand Canyon. He proudly displayed pictures of their adventure and talked about "the trip of a lifetime" for the remainder of his life. He was an animal lover and always kept a bag of milk bones handy for his beloved grand dog Chole, as well as the dogs of visiting neighbors. His "dog niece" Winter eventually had to be placed on a diet as her daily visits with Pete began to cause weight gain, much to her chagrin. Pete's witty humor remained with him until the end, and he will forever be remembered as a man who appreciated the simple things in life while offering extraordinary love to those around him.
Pete is survived by his wife, Mary and her sons; Todd Yarborough (Diane), Chuck Yarborough, his daughter, Elaine Marker (John), his sisters, Ruth Burnette and Joy Mobray (Bruce), and his brother, Donald Marze (Mildred).
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Adelaide Boyd Marze, and his son, Douglas A. Marze.
Although flowers are appreciated, memorials in Pete's honor may be made to the charity of your choice.
