Shirley (Rape) Floyd

Shirley Rape Floyd, 86, of Monroe went to be with the Lord on Friday, November 25, 2022 in her home surrounded by her loving family.  Her funeral service will be at 2 PM on Monday, November 28, 2022 at Altan Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Bob Childs officiating.  The family will receive friends at the church starting at 1:00 PM with the Service starting at 2:00.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Born May 13, 1936 in Union County, NC, she was the daughter of the late Hayden and Gladys Rape.  She is preceded in death by her loving Husband of 54 years William (Bill) Floyd, Brothers Ralph Rape and Homer Rape, Sisters Elsie Baer, Ellen Hargett, Lillian Little and Evelyn Deese.

Shirley was a devoted Wife, Mother and Grandmother. She is survived by her Son Russell Floyd and wife Jackie, two precious Granddaughters Abby and Lily who were the light of her life, Brother Warren Rape and Sister Dora Birmingham and numerous Nieces and Nephews.

Shirley retired from both INA Insurance in Charlotte and the NC Dept of Transportation, Bridge Maintenance Dept.  After retiring Shirley spent her time caring for her beloved Husband and attending her Granddaughters school events and activities.

Mrs. Floyd was a loyal member of Altan Presbyterian Church where she attended school as a child, was later married as an adult and will now be laid to rest in the Altan Church Cemetery.  

Shirley will be greatly missed by her beloved Friends and Family.
